~ Governor of the Isle ~

"Now now, Jack, that there's a fine little isle."

"Fine it may be, mate, but I'd much rather not take a closer look, if you don't mind."

"Oh, but I do mind. We all mind. Ye see, Jack, the crew voted for a keelhaulin', but I'm prepared to be generous. I'll make ye a settler, no, better, I'll make ye governor of that isle. Governor Jack Sparrow!"

"Not bloody likely, Barbossa. I'm still Captain of this ship. Savvy?"

"Jack--I thought ye'd realised. I'm Captain now. Am I not, Mr. Pintel?"

"Aye, Captain!"

"Captain Barbossa, at yer service, governor. Apple?"

~ Bad Dreams ~

“Mama, I had another bad dream.”

“Another one? What about this time?”

“Pirates. They were chasing me all over and waving their swords at me.”

“Oh, you poor thing. But you know, not all pirates are mean.”

“Really?”

“Yes. In fact, your daddy’s best friend is a pirate and a good man…uh, most of the time. But he would never chase little boys around with a sword.”

“Are you sure?”

“Positive.

“Is he your friend too?”

“Well, most of the time. Now go to bed, little one.”

“Awww, do I have to?”

“Of course you do.”

“Goodnight, mama.”

“Goodnight, darling.”

“Ye have a death wish, don’t ye?”

“Aye, ye cau’t me, luv. I want t’ go an’ git meself impal’d on th’ yardarm o’ me own ship just fer th’ fun o’ it.”

“Jack…”

“No worries, luv. I know wha’ ‘m doin’.”

“Jack, there’s no way ye can fit ye’re head int’ that rum bottle.”

“Anythin’s possible, luv…’m Cap’n Ja’ Sparrow.”

“Jack, stop or I’ll take tha’ bottle…ye’ve ‘ad entirely too much t’ drink.”

“No such thin’,”

“Contrary t’ yer belief, there is. No gimme tha’.”

“Yer’re no fun, luv.”

“I know, now gimme!”

“Fun-sucker!”

~ Farewell ~

"You're leaving again, aren't you?"

"I've no choice, my dove."

"You've all the choice you need. Close the damned door."

"I can't close me heart t'her. Not yet."

"And you love her more than I?"

"Oh, my dove, my dove, I can't love anyone as much as ye."

"Except the sea…"

"That isn't love; that's blood; she's in me veins, and she calls."

"And you-- must answer? Even leaving us behind?"

"My dove, my dove, `tis only for a little while."

"And by then, your son will be walking-- you'll never hear his first word!"

"Kiss me once last, my dove. Farewell."

~ Sinking ~

"Alright, if I close my eyes then open them again this boat won't be sinking."

"Well, that didn't work. Anymore bright ideas Jack?"

"Captain, it's always Captain."

"Won't be Captain when Anamaria gets hold of me."

"Ah, Anamaria."

"That's if she gets the chance, mind."

"Bloody hell, where did all this water come from?"

"Well that was the stupidest thing I've said in a while. Honestly, five days at sea on me own and I've gone daft."

"Er."

"What?"

"Dafter."

"Ah. How's this one? If I close my eyes then open them again I'll be able to see Port Royal."

*****

~ Nothing Significant ~

"Interesting day, wasn't it?"

"Shut up."

"You'll never get it out that way, you're just rubbing it in."

"Do I look like a washerwoman?"

"No."

"No. And it was not an interesting day. Nothing significant happened today at all. That's what Lieutenant Gillette said, remember?"

"Do you think he meant to fall off the cliff?"

"Who means to fall off a cliff?"

"He might. Bloody daft he was."

"Which is why nothing significant happened today, savvy?"

"What did you just say."

"I didn't say that! Anyway, we can't let it be known that the Royal Navy was outwitted by that daft pirate."

"I savvy."

"Shut up."

~ Musical Appreciation ~

"We're devils and black sheep…. And really bad eggs. Drink up me hearties…."

"Jack….JACK"

"Captain, luv. Captain. How many times do I `ave to tell ye?"

"How many times, Captain, do I have to tell you to stop singing that bloody song."

"It's a good song. Don't know why you refused to learn it. `Course if it is that you want to find other uses for me mouth….ow…Don't think…"

"Yes you did."

"….We pillage and plunder we rifle and loot drink up me hearties yo ho. We get slapped by our women and don't give a hoot, drink
up…. Bloody hell woman!"

~ Unspoken Connection, continued... ~

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For this.”

“Didn’t do it for you. She was sailing nowhere with sails like those. Holes like a net. No speed.”

“Still, thanks, love.”

“Don’t call me that!”

“Refreshing to see you ain’t changed, sweetheart.”

“That neither. There’s more’n one of us who hasn’t changed.”

“More than two of us. The old lady’s still the same.”

Creak.

“See, she agrees.”

“You’re mad. Perfectly crazy.”

“Mad, me? Well, nobody’s ever said that before.”

“See, daft.”

“Daft or no, I’m glad you looked after ‘er. So, thank you.”

“Is Jack Sparrow turnin’ soft?”

“No, he’s just home – savvy?”

~ In the Absence of Memory ~

"Don't lag, boy. Remember, him that falls b'hind..."

"…gets left b'hind, I know. Da, what. . . was she like? Ma, I mean."

"No use askin' after the dead, boy. T'ain't natural."

"Wha'd she look like?"

"Thirteen years of yer life gone by now, an' ye not knowin' an' never askin'. Why now?"

"Jus' wonderin'. She look anythin' like tha' woman you was with t'night? Dark hair'd an' dark eye'd like me?"

"Saw tha', did ya? In tha' case, yea, you look like yer Ma, an' she looked jus' like tha' whore. `Specially seein' as yer Ma was one 'erself. Off wi' ya now, scamper up tha' riggin' an' take yer post b'fore yer late to yer watch. Known many a merchant Capn' to
flog a man fer less. An' seein' as yer my blood an' all, I'd likely take the same."

~ Twenty Thousand Leagues ~

"I know you're looking at me. Don't try and play innocent, little fishy- you want to eat me. Can't imagine why… Oh, no, don't go away! Blast."

"It's really dark down here… is it day or night? Can't remember… Light! Hooray! This way, little light! No, not that way! Woo-hoo, here, candlefish! Come on; just let me see the bloody ropes- Hey! Come back! Lovely."

"How many different knots is that?"

"Hmm-hmmm de um… yo-ho, yo-ho, wish I was atop the sea… it is ever so boring here, someone please rescue me…"

"I do believe I am going mad. Hmm. At least I'm not talking to myself yet. Wait… Rot, you bloody rope!"

~ Childhood Games ~

"Arrr, avast ye landlubber, or I'll run ye through!"

"Wha-- OOWWW.. what'er you doing?"

"I'm a pirate. I'm pillaging and plundering."

"A pirate? You cant' be a pirate, you're a girl."

"You take that back!"

"It's rather obvious you're a girl so taking it back won't change… OUCH! STOP that or I'll…"

"Or you'll what? Cross blades with me?"

"You mean sticks don't you?"

"This `stick' has more imagination than you do. Have you no sense for adventure? Don't you find pirates rather exciting?"

"No! Having been on a ship attacked by pirates was enough for me. I've got to get back; Mr. Brown'll be wondering where I am. Good day--."

"Elizabeth."

"Miss Swann."

~ Ghosts ~

"You can't just leave him there."

"I certainly could."

"No. Not you. You're too honorable to do that."

"Honorable? The blacksmith son of a pirate traitor? Certainly, I'm honor to the core."

"You are. I couldn't help being what I was, lad, any more than you can help loving Elizabeth. And you can't leave him there."

"He was going to trade me for a ship."

"He saved your life. Besides, who was the one wielding the oar, huh?"

"-------"

"Well? Are you going?"

"You're not even really here."

"That doesn't change the fact that you're going, now, does it?"

*****

~ Growing Up ~

"Come on, Will!"

"Mr. Brown is expecting me. I'll get in trouble if I don't go."

"Papa can keep you out of trouble."

"No, he won't. He'll be mad if you get your dress all dirty again."

"If he wouldn't make me wear these bloody new dresses . . .a little more dirt wouldn't hurt the old ones any."

"You're not supposed to—ow! Hey! Come back here!"

"Elizabeth! What in heaven are you doing? William, I would have thought you more mature than this by now!"

"Oh, yes . . .he'll keep me out of trouble . . ."

*****

~ Queries ~

"So ye're really goin' back out? Even after . . ."

"I'm not plannin' on makin' a mistake like last time, love."

"Quite a few lasses who'll miss ye if ye do somethin' stupid for a ship."

"You mean there's a lot of wenches missing my purse."

"Tha's low, Cap'n."

"Truth."

"Be seein' ye next time ye make port?"

"Maybe."

"Money?"

"You weren't just being kind? I was drunk yesterday, not bli—ow!"

"How dare ye accuse me of tryin' t' cheat ye!"

"Here I thought I would have a warm bed to return to . . ."

*****

~ No Hard Feelings ~

"I'm sorry."

"For what, Ms. Swann? It's been obvious where your heart lay from the moment you found him in the water."

"I used you. I lied to you."

"You did indeed. Just don't forget that I let you. I'm as much at fault in this as you are . . .maybe more."

"You asked directly, and I—"

"You were arguing for your love's life. I knew that. Are you trying to get me to be angry?"

"No . . .I just thought . . .Would you come to the wedding? If you don't wish to . . ."

"I'll come."

*****

~ Horizons ~

"Do you think he meant to fall? He didn't seem afraid at all . . ."

"Either way, he'll definitely be feeling it later."

"Voice of experience?"

"If you want . . ."

"I miss him."

"Me, too."

"We only knew him for a week."

"A week to change the world."

"His, too. He'd been after the Pearl for ten years . . .half of our lives he's been chasing a ship."

"She's not a ship . . .she's freedom."

"Do you think we'll ever see him again?"

"Sometimes old horizons can be just as alluring as the new ones."

~ Misplaced ~

"What did they do with him, love? Where in your boundless embrace did they stow him?"

"Jack?"

"... Bill?"

"Jack - it's me."

"Of course it is. I knew it was. That's why I said Will."

"But you called me ..."

"Come on boy, get to those sails if you want to reach Tortuga before dark."

"You were just leaning over the side muttering to yourself. You do it."

"Now, Will, must we go through this again? I give the orders. You follow them. Savvy?"

"Who were you talking to?"

"The sea. I was asking her to give us a push."

"Really."

"Really."

~ Condemnation ~

“Mr. Sparrow.”

“Well, aren’t I honoured? Commodore himself comin’ to give me the bad news.”

“You had a number of passionate advocates, Mr. Sparrow.”

“Two.”

“Yes, two. Miss Swann and Mr. Turner both argued forcefully for your release. But I cannot allow that. You are a pirate, convicted by your words and deeds.”

“So? Spit it out, Commodore.”

“Three days hence, you will be taken from this place and ... and hung by the neck until dead. I am sorry, Mr. Sparrow.”

“No, you’re not. But do me a favour, Commodore.”

“What?”

“It’s Captain Sparrow. Just – please get that right?”

~ Permission ~

"Miss Swann! I didn't think to see you again. Does your da know you're here?"

"Yes. I…I spoke to him. And to the Commodore."

"But their hands are tied?"

"Yes. At least…. Yes. So they say."

"I see. Well. We all do what's right, in our own fashion, eh?"

"Do you really believe that?"

"Don't really matter whether I believe it or not. So…why'd you come?"

"I don't know. Two peas in a pod?"

"Oh. Not for much longer, though, eh?"

"Jack!"

"Now none o' that. Tears don't suit you, and I ain't worth it, Miss Swann."

"It's Elizabeth."

~ Home ~

"Home? Well,... I never really could say I've had a home. A place to stay, yes. A home, no."

"But isn't that what a home is?"

"Yes,... and no. Home is where you can go any time and always be accepted for who or what you are, no matter what."

"Jack."

"Don't worry about me, whelp. I have the Pearl back."

"Whelp?"

"It suits ya, lad. Being Bootstraps' son and all."

"Jack... the Pearl's your home, isn't she?"

"Aye, lass, that she is. And all the one I'll ever need."

"Well, if you ever want to stop by again... Jack, this is your home as well."
